As per the official update, NEET UG 2026 exam was canceled after investigation and inputs from central agencies regarding possible paper leak. The Government of India approved the decision to maintain fairness and credibility in one of India's most competitive medical entrance examinations. NTA also announced that the re-examination will be conducted afresh for the students and candidates will not be required to register again for the re-examination.

To support students financially, NTA activated a dedicated refund portal on the official NEET website. Through this portal, candidates can submit their bank account details and claim refund of the examination fee previously paid. Students need to log in using their application number and password and provide valid bank account information for the refund process.

The launch of the refund portal is significant as lakhs of candidates appear for NEET every year, and many students come from middle class or economically weaker backgrounds. Examination fees, travel expenses, coaching fees and accommodation costs already put a heavy burden on families.These steps were taken to reduce inconvenience to the candidates and simplify the re-examination process.
